Web content management systems
Web Content management systems (CMS) are often the backbone of a website. It's how you create, update and publish web pages, both copy and images. A CMS needs a user-friendly interface so, with basic training, anyone can update their website.
Best Lettings came to us wanting a website that was easy to update as and when they had new properties to let. We built a bespoke content management system for them so that each time they added a house or flat to their site, it would automatically ask for relevant information and store it and display it correctly.
We also use Web Content management systems that record which fonts and colours your website uses, through cascading style sheets, to guarantee consistency throughout your site. So in Best Lettings' website, all the copy is in their corporate colours of black and green, mirroring their corporate branding.
In most cases, we build Web Content management systems for a client from scratch or modify an open source version, such as Wordpress or Joomla. This way we keep our costs down (by not paying for any fancy software) and the web interface is exactly what each client requires.
Which Web Content management systems we use will depend on each client's needs. If all the built-in functionality required is present in one of our own systems or an open source one (and it just needs a few tweaks), then modifying makes sense. There are other occasions, such as with Best Lettings, where starting from scratch will provide a better result for you.
